Glacier National Park Family Session | Farrell Family

Family Portrait Photographer in Glacier National Park

As a Glacier National Park family photographer, I’ve explored endless jaw-dropping locations for photo sessions. From the never-ending daisy fields to the rainbow rock filled lake shore, Glacier National Park has it all! But when the Farrells told me they wanted to explore a calm creek bed surrounded by luscious green trees, I knew exactly where to take them for the session of their dreams: Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park.

Lake McDonald, Glacier National Park

Lake McDonald is actually one of the largest lakes in Glacier National Park that’s a whopping 472 feet deep, crazy to think about how big the lake actually is! The famous view from Lake McDonald, has six mountain peaks that take your breath away; Mount Vaught, Cannon Mountain, Mount Brown, Little Matterhorn, Mount Edwards, and Gunsight Mountain. I first discovered Glacier National Park when I moved to Montana way back in 2003. It wasn’t the driving factor for my family moving to the area, but it sure is a site to see. My love for Glacier National Park grew the longer I lived in Montana. As I grew my photography business, I knew right away that I had to bring a family and my camera here! And this breathtaking, serene, iconic spot, especially in the summer, was the perfect backdrop for the Farrell family!

Family portraits you'll remember for life...

The crystal-clear water of Lake McDonald gave the whole session an adventurous feel, and the warm sunset breeze a sprinkle of romance. Rachel and Max looked so at home in the sunset lighting at Lake McDonald, and their kiddo’s eyes filled with delight the moment they saw the river at Belton bridge in West Glacier!

I also loved the way they dressed to perfectly complement the location. I always advise families to look up images of their session location beforehand to ensure perfect color choices, and this crew definitely chose wisely! Choosing a color palette isn’t an easy task, especially for a family of four, but I never get tired of helping families build the perfect wardrobe for their session. So, if you’re considering a family session of your own, but are nervous about what to wear, don’t let that stop you from booking! I promise, it will be easy and effortless!

Finding the perfect spot to take family photos on the other hand, isn’t always easy, but you better believe I’ll be returning to Glacier National Park over and over again for family portrait photography! Thank you so much, Farrell family for inviting me along on this adventure with your family! I hope to spend time with all of you again if you ever travel this way again!
